Riverway Plaza is set to expand with the construction of Stage Two.
Exciting things are on the horizon for the Upper Ross community, with construction on Stage 2 of Riverway Plaza officially set to commence in the coming months. This next phase of growth will expand the centre’s offering of everyday essentials, dining, lifestyle, and services — further cementing Riverway Plaza as the local go-to destination for the growing Rasmussen and Upper Ross regions.
A key highlight of the expansion is the arrival of Coles, which has secured a long-term lease for a 3,585sqm full-line supermarket. The successful lease was led by Ashley Moffat, General Manager, Business Development and Leasing, whose efforts were instrumental in bringing this cornerstone tenant to the project.
Alongside Coles, Stage 2 will deliver:
1,225sqm of specialty retail space
Snap Fitness gym (650sqm, first floor)
300sqm of first-floor commercial office space
140-space basement car park, including 6 ‘click & collect’ bays and travelator access; and
An additional 64 on-ground parking spaces, complete with sunshade structures.
The expansion is expected to be completed by December 2026, supporting up to 100 construction jobs, with new employment opportunities created once the centre is operational. The project will also introduce new centre amenities, enhanced public spaces, and a 300kW rooftop solar system, contributing to a cleaner environment.
Located just 17km southwest of the Townsville CBD, Riverway Plaza is already home to a strong line-up of trusted retailers including Woolworths, BWS, McDonald’s, KFC, Subway, and Café 63, as well as a variety of specialty stores.

Stage 2 will build on this success, supporting the growing residential community and further expanding the centre’s essential services and lifestyle offerings.
